Transitioning Your Dog to A Raw Diet

When starting out on a raw diet, it's important to ease your dog into it. Start by replacing about 1/8 of your dog's food with Redbud's. Gradually increase the amount of Redbud's until you've made the switch completely to raw food over a week or two. If your dog has been on dry food for a long time, then the switch make take longer. But, nearly all dogs are receptive to raw meat. During the transition to Redbud's Raw, some dogs will have what appears to be a mucous-like lining around their poop. This means your dog is emitting toxins and once those toxins are out of your dog's system, this will stop. Some dogs may also have soft poop as they transition to a raw diet. Again, this will end and your dog’s poop will firm up as your dog becomes accustomed to eating a fresh, raw diet. If you have questions, please contact us.

Keep frozen until ready to use. Thaw in the refrigerator and keep refrigerated promptly after opening. Redbud’s should be good for a week in the fridge (resealed after opening) and one year frozen.

This is a raw meat product - keep raw meat separate from other foods. Remember to ALWAYS wash your hands before and after preparing your dog's meal. After feeding, wash all surfaces, utensils, bowls, and hands that come into contact with raw meat with soapy, warm water. Pet owners are the biggest contributors to cross-contamination due to improper handling of foods.

HPP-free

Some "raw" dog food companies use a process called High Pressure Pasteurization (HPP) claiming that it kills potential pathogens such as Salmonella or E. Coli. But, in truth, the process may cause loss of essential amino acids, damage protein digestibility, and lessen the nutritional value of the raw food. We do not use HPP.
